Recognized as a valuable legal resource to the business community, Michael Steel focuses his practice on business, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, and real estate matters. Michael has represented many individuals and business debtors and creditors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy proceedings, creditor committees, trustees and receivers. He has represented many small businesses and their owners in commercial loan work out situations. Michael has also been actively engaged in helping his clients purchase, sell, and lease assets and in real property transactions, as well as foreclosure and landlord-tenant matters.
Prior to his work as an attorney, Michael worked in many aspects of the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, including the syndication and marketing of television programming. This practical knowledge of business and its financial demands has informed and well-served his work as an attorney. Michael is the current Chairman of the Business & Corporate Law Section of the Akron Bar Association. He also is involved in the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law section of the local bar, as well as the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association. Michael is licensed to practice law before the Ohio Supreme Court, the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Michael is pleased to give back to the community as President of the Board of Directors for Nazareth Housing Development Corp., a local faith-based, non-profit community development organization that helps meet the affordable housing needs of the residents of Summit County. Michael also enjoys coaching CYO soccer.
